The interuniversity Master of Science in Photonics Engineering programme at VUB and UGent marks the end of the academic year 2023-2024 with the Annual Summer Symposium. The symposium provides an opportunity for our graduating students to showcase and present their research findings, concluding an intensive two-year academic journey.

Master student Matéo is in Australia for an internship at the University of Sydney. In the framework of his master’s programme, Matéo is working at the Eggleton’s Research Group.

The students of the Master of Science in Photonics Engineering have kicked off the new academic year together in Ghent.

Master of Science in Photonics Engineering student Yamila Borsch has been awarded a 2023 Optics and Photonics Education Scholarship from SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics. SPIE awards students a scholarship based on their potential contribution to optics and photonics, or a related discipline.

To conclude the academic year, we hosted our annual Summer Symposium. The second-year master students present their thesis to finalise their master’s programme. Afterwards, there was time for a celebration with all students and professors!
